93 points from Robert Parker!

Loco has the honour of being the only White Grenache wine from central Spain. When Alfonso found the delipidated vineyard everyone said he'd 'be mad' to try and tame it, let alone make one of Spain's most highly awarded whites.

Well...as you can see from the miniature straijacket (yes, really) he not only succeeded but also had some fun at the expense of the nay-sayers.

This is a big, big wine & not for the faint hearted - but, boy, it's delicious. It needs food but could handle pretty much anything, from Lobster Thermidor and Roast Pork to Curries and Grouse (possibly, I haven't actually tried that last one)...

It also makes a rather good pressie for any nutters you happen to really like.

Origin: Toledo, Spain

Founded in 2004 by Belarmino Fernandez and Alfonso Chacon, Canopy has (quite unassumingly) played a significant role in helping the wider world to appreciate what the ‘New Spain’ is capable of – Michel Bettane even went so far as to acknowledge them as ‘architects of the Spanish renassiance’. Belarmino and Alfonso are self-confessed ‘terroir obsessives’, driven by a desire to bottle the unique characteristics of their little corner of Sierra de Gredos.
